Two Things You Should Know Before Starting to Write Your Book

Standard

In today’s culture, books like Moby Dick no longer hit the best-seller list. While books back then were designed to be full-blown affairs – your dictionary, geography volume, whale-biology kit, and whaling guide in one – these days books are normally bought for one reason: entertainment. This may not be a fact that thrills you, but nevertheless, it is what authors have to work with.
So before you start writing, remind yourself not to save the action for later. Readers want it now. Remind yourself not to wait a few chapter before really inviting the readers into your character’s head. Readers want to know now. Take a moment to plot how to begin your book, because this may be all the difference between getting a publishing contract or locking your manuscript in a drawer for the next twenty years.
The way you begin your book matters. Take a look at this for details:

So right. I only hope as a recently published author myself, that my story can at least pique the interest of the reader that much, as for them to not sooner have it prop up their coffee table from total boredom 🙂

You are absolutely right. It’s like with food. People eat first with their eyes. My books are called ‘A Chronicle of Karma and ‘Doctor, myself…’ which you can see on my blog page under categories called My published books. Thank you so much for asking. Wishing you well.
